Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says former President Goodluck Jonathan has not informed him of any plan to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during a media parley in Abuja on Friday, Wike dismissed reports that Jonathan was being pressured to return to the race.

“Jonathan has never told me he’s being pressured to run. If he calls me, I’ll tell him my mind,” Wike said, urging the public not to believe unverified reports.

He also distanced himself from the emergence of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN) as the PDP consensus candidate for national chairman, describing the move as factional.

“I don’t know about Tanimu Turaki becoming chairman; maybe for another faction — it’s not the PDP I know,” he stated.

Wike further dismissed the upcoming PDP national convention scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan as “illegal,” saying he would not attend.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Niger Delta leaders, including ex-militant leader Tompolo, are urging Jonathan to shelve any 2027 ambition and back President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
