The news of the picking of PDP nomination and expression of interest forms by Chief Olugu Kalu Ugba, barrister at law, an Ohafia titan came with so much glee and promise for the children of Ohafia Udumaeze. It marked the first time since the beginning of the 4th Republic in 1999 that a son of the soil in Ohafia will march out boldly to pick the nomination forms of a major political party. It could only be a man that is so loved and cherished by his people and with the heart of Ishibumba.
No one depicts the allegory of Fela’s song, “water no get enemy” than Chief Barrister Olugu Kalu Ugba. He’s one man I know is useful to everybody. I can beat my chest and say without fear of equivocation that he’s looking for power just to use it to help people. He levels with everyone and is archetypal peacemaker.
What else is left to be said in deserving encommium for this good man? than to pray and wish him well in the face of this daunting task. Those of us that know his heart will only pray for the God of miracles to bless his courage and candour. It will not be a difficult proposition for the PDP to hand him the keys to their treasure trove. The same keys that I saw Ukpai Agwu Ukpai holding before his sudden and unexpected demise in 2021. What a world?
Chief Barrister Olugu Kalu Ugba has managed to fill the vacuum left by the passing of Ukpai Agwu Ukpai to the admiration of all lovers of Ohafia. For PDP, it’s the turn of Barrister Olugu and no one can take the ticket away from him. Let the guber ticket be celebrated in Ohafia even for its incalculable risks.
