The organisers of the Aba Made Film Project, titled “Chronicles of Enyimba City”, have announced that Governor Alex Otti has approved the official flag-off date for the international blockbuster movie, which will tell the story of Aba, the commercial hub of Eastern Nigeria, from the pre-colonial, colonial, and post-colonial eras to the current democratic era.

The film project, a historical film of Aba which is done by the Abia State Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy in conjunction with the Aba Made Film Project Team, will be officially flagged off on Saturday, the 22nd of November, 2025, at the prestigious Aba Town Hall Auditorium by 11 am.
The project, which will be officially flagged off by Governor Alex Otti, who is the brand ambassador of the project, will be done under the chairmanship of Dr Chima Anyaso (Ofuji).
It will be recalled that Governor Alex Otti, prior to the 2023 general elections, where he was returned as governor, accepted to be the brand ambassador of the film project when the advisory board of the Aba Made Film Project visited his home in Nvosi Isiala-Ngwa on the 22nd of October, 2022.

The Technical Director of the project, Dr Prospect Mlemchukwu, an accomplished filmmaker from Hollywood, California, with a career spanning numerous years of impactful work, said that the Aba made film project is a multifaceted project that can be transformed into a theatrical film with the potential to elevate the perception and marketability of these products on a global scale.
Mlemchukwu, a distinguished Hollywood and African Prestigious Award (HAPAward) winner for Best Director, said that if executed with precision and artistry, the production has the capacity to generate substantial revenue, potentially grossing billions of Naira, while simultaneously serving as a powerful image booster for the region.
For several months, the Aba Made Film Project Team has been consulting the majority of Aba-born stars from the areas of fashion, music, movies and all manner of entertainment, and come the 22nd of November, many of these stars will be present at the flag-off ceremony at the Aba Town Hall.
According to the Aba Made Film Project Team, the Chronicles of Enyimba is about looking at Aba from its cradle, the past, the present and the future, adding that the team involved in the production is looking at what Aba has been able to accomplish in its over one hundred and fifty years of history.
The team said that serious revelations capturing the level of economic, political, social and global success that Aba has recorded in the past in conjunction with avoidable tragedies, failures and errors of the past that must not be repeated will be captured.
“Fortunately, the present government headed by Dr Alex Otti in Abia State seems to be the godsend which is completely formatted to restore the glories of Aba that flew out of the window in the past decades and has created easier imagery links and memory recovery that will make the storyline resonate in the hearts and heads of our people.
“The emergence of this new governor and this government with gigantic strides in economic projects, infrastructure, education, entertainment, commerce and every other thing that made this place thick.
“All things that made Aba the cynosure of all eyes in the West African subregion have finally started to re-emerge. Incidentally, the film we’re talking about has Dr Alex Otti as the brand ambassador, which he became in 2022, before he even became governor,” the team said.
The team added that the film will expose the achievements of political leaders like M. I. Okpara, Jaja Wachuku, Sam Mbakwe and Margaret Ekpo, who left legacies of development and courageous civilisation. A legacy of honesty and commitment to public service.
“Aside from politics and public administration, Aba had its city fathers in business and industry. These city fathers were the best and topmost Igbo businessmen of the early post-Civil War.
“They include people like Nnanna Kalu (Star Paper Mile), Chief Titus Ike Ume-Ezeoke (visionary founder and patron of the Peoples Club of Nigeria), Nzedioramma Uche Okafor (UOO Group) and Dike Udensi Ifegwu (Dubic).
“Other city fathers include Chief John Okam (Intersoft), Chief John Richard Anyaehie (Anyaehies Toyota Crown), Mike Nkwoji (Mike Merchandise), Chief Sab Ejimofor (Sab Motors), Chief Michael Nwoke Okocha (Noko), Chief Clement Moore Obioha (Moscol Group) and Eze Innocent Eloagu (Royal Palm Group).
“Aba had men like the Great Ugorji Ekeh, Chief D.D. Onyemelukwe, Chief Ferdinand Anaghara (Ferdinand Enterprises), Ideh Frank Owelle (Unicoco Hotel), Chief Clement Maduako (Binez Hotel), Chief Nzedibia Okwuchi (Crystal Park Hotel), Chief M.O. Kalu (Omire Pharmaceutical/Agura Hotel), Chief Rufus Obi, Chief Onwuka Kalu (Onwuka Hi-Tec) and Dr Chukwuemeka Okolo (New Era Groups).
“We need to remind and educate our people about Chief Pius Onwunna (Starline Industries), A.E. Meniru (Ejinaka and Thornber), Chief Annie Okonkwo (Clemco Group), Engr. Emeka Ekwebelem (Karisto Industrial Systems), Chief Sam Igwe Ekeh (Samek), Eze Ezoh Ukandu (Ukandu Motors), Chief Titus Njoku (Toonak Group) and so many others too numerous to mention.
The team said that the film project, which is expected to have over 2000 cast members, is coming at the right time when all hopes have arisen about Aba and at a time when the glory of the city is returning and taking a new shape with smart schools, new roads and city expansion projects of a visionary government.
