It has come to the attention of the Abia APC Caucus that rumours are circulating regarding the reasons for the suspension of the congresses, which were scheduled to commence with the ward congresses from 18th February 2026.

While we appreciate the level of interest in the growing momentum of the APC in Abia State, including speculation about the possible defection of the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, we wish to categorically state that the suspension has absolutely nothing to do with the defection of anyone.

Unlike the situation in Adamawa State, which reportedly involved issues surrounding Governor Fintiri’s defection, the Abia case concerns internal friction and logistical challenges. The National Working Committee has formally communicated this to INEC and is working diligently to resolve the issues within the shortest possible time.

It is worth recalling that the Abia State Caucus initially announced the suspension before the official notice from the National Working Committee, duly signed by the National Chairman and National Secretary, was issued and received by INEC.

A new date will be communicated to members in due course, as the NWC encourages the Abia chapter to continue its impressive membership drive.
