The Abia APC Chairman, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu has felicitated with the Minister of state for Labour, Hon. Nkiru Onyejiocha on her award of honour by Arise News Channel, as she was named amongst the ” WOMEN OF IMPACT IN AFRICA 2026″ during an event in Lagos, marking the 2026 ” International Women’s Day ” celebration.
Hon. Nkeiru Onyejiocha, while receiving the award, says it’s not a personal recognition, rather a true reflection of the collective work of countless women and allies all over the world and urge them to continue and expand opportunities, dignity, and inclusion for women across Africa.
Hon. Chukwu described the Honourable Minister as APC political amazon, whose wealth of experience, political sagacity, influence, infrastructural development impact, job creation, loyalty and committed to the progress of Nigeria are not in doubt therefore, worthy to be celebrated, not just in Nigeria but at the intercontinental level, insisting she deserves the recognition.
Hon. Nkiru Onyejiocha’s journey into politics and leadership deserves a spot in the story of Nigeria’s political history. She was appointed the Commissioner for Manpower Development in Abia State where she established skill acquisition centers across Abia State and later served as a Local Government Chairman, Ummunneochi LGA, Abia State.
Hon. Nkeiruka was first elected member of the House of Representatives in 2007, and later re-elected in 2015, both under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
During her time at the National Assembly, she served as the Chairman of Women in Parliament and Chairman, House Committee on Aviation. She would later join the All Progressives Congress ( APC) where she brushed aside many political heavyweights then, to emerge again as the House Member Representing the good people of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency
Her legislative interests border on sponsoring bills that enhance the standard of living for children, women, youths and the less privileged, education and infrastructural development, including health and aviation sectors.
