The Nigerian Football Federation says Head Coach Eric Chelle has picked a 55-man provisional squad for the 35th Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Captain William Ekong, striker Victor Osimhen, midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali are among those listed.
Other notable players include Maduka Okoye, Zaidu Sanusi, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Alex Iwobi, Raphael Onyedika, Ademola Lookman, and Samuel Chukwueze. The squad also features stars from the Nigeria Premier Football League.
A final list of 28 players will be selected from this provisional squad in the coming days. The Super Eagles are set to arrive at their training camp in Egypt on Wednesday, 10th December, ahead of friendly matches before the tournament starts on Sunday, 21st December.
Nigeria is drawn in Group C alongside Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda. Coach Chelle said the provisional list includes “Captain William Ekong, ace forward Victor Osimhen, midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali” among others.
