The Abia State PDP 2023 governorship candidate and former member of Ohaneze Ndigbo National Peace and Reconciliation Committee, Chief Okey Ahiwe has expressed profound sadness over the death of Ohaneze Ndigbo President-General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.
Reacting to reports of the sad news, Chief Ahiwe, who described the late Iwuanyanwu as ‘a pillar of humanism’, said that his demise is a very significant loss to Ndi Igbo, occurring at a time when the Igbo Nation was counting on his titanic influence and leadership to help consolidate her preeminence in the larger national context.
According to him, “Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was a legendary national icon whose towering achievements and passion for human development within and outside Igbo land were greatly inspirational. He was a pillar of humanism. Beyond his fabled success as a business mogul, he made indelible contributions to sports and media development through Iwuanyanwu Nationale Football Club and Champion Newspapers Limited which also became breeding grounds for many professionals respected across the globe. His pragmatic leadership vision and relentless pursuit of the actualization of Igbo renaissance were pivotal to the giant strides recorded by Ohaneze Ndigbo under his watch. In his death, Igbo land and Nigeria have lost an irreplaceable human treasure.”
Chief Ahiwe conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Iwuanyanwu Family. He encouraged Ndi Igbo to honour the legacies of the departed leader while praying that God would grant his soul eternal rest.
