The People’s Democratic party faction led by Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed has called for the total cancellation of the proposed national convention of the party slated for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan the Oyo state capital.

At a media briefing held in Abuja on Wednesday, the group which spoke through its acting chairman, said their decision is based on the federal high court judgement which ordered suspension of the convention last week.
ALHAJI Mohammed who told journalists that their faction received the certified true copy of the judgement said they appealed it, and will wait for the outcome of the appeal before any convention can hold.
He further called on the independent national electoral commission to uphold the suspension in strict compliance with the directive contained in the judgement.
The acting factional chairman also alluded to and acknowledged the Experte order issued by a high court in Ibadan but maintained that the order, cannot override a subsisting judgement of a federal high court even though, the certified true copy of the order is still being awaited.
He however assured their supporters that steps were being taken to ensure that normalcy returned to the party.
Responding to the reconciliatory committee set up by the board of trustees earlier on Wednesday, the embattled national secretary of the party, senator Samuel Anyanwu said their faction can only be part any reconciliation when they are consulted.
Anyanwu also corroborated the position of his chairman on the cancelation of the pending convention.
