The All Progressives Congress (APC) has retained its existing zoning formula for National Working Committee (NWC) positions ahead of its 2026 National Convention.

This decision aims to maintain balance among Nigeria’s geopolitical zones, promote fairness within the party structure, and ensure stability.
The zoning arrangement allocates key positions across the six geopolitical zones, including the National Chairman, National Secretary, National Treasurer, and National Organising Secretary.
For instance, the National Chairmanship is zoned to the North Central, while the National Secretary position is allocated to the South West.
The APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, emphasized that aspirants must strictly adhere to the zoning arrangement when submitting their Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.
This move is intended to prevent internal friction and ensure a smooth convention process.
A support group, the Concerned APC Stakeholders Forum, has also urged the party to retain the 2022 zoning formula, citing the need for continuity, stability, and unity within the party.
The group’s convener, Dominic Alancha, warned that altering the arrangement could trigger tensions and undermine internal harmony.

The APC’s 2026 National Convention is scheduled to take place on March 27-28, 2026, and will feature the election of new national leaders, review of internal policies, and setting of strategic direction for future elections.
