Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially joined the Accord Party, days after announcing his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party.
Adeleke made the declaration on Tuesday inside the Banquet Hall of the Osun Government House. He was joined by national and state leaders of the Accord Party as he confirmed his plan to seek a second term as governor under the party’s platform.
He revealed that he quietly joined the Accord Party on November 6 after long discussions with political stakeholders across Osun State. According to him, the party’s focus on welfare fits perfectly with his style of leadership.
Adeleke said his decision to run for a second term under the Accord Party is aimed at completing ongoing projects and strengthening service delivery in the state. He praised the party’s philosophy and said good governance must always focus on the well-being of the people.
He told the party leaders that they are now part of the Osun Government House and called for unity as preparations for the 2026 election begin. He added that residents across all zones of the state will back the Accord Party because they want continuity.
Adeleke also highlighted his achievements in welfare, social services and infrastructure, insisting that Osun has enjoyed stronger governance under his administration.
The governor resigned from the PDP on December 2. In a statement posted on Instagram, he said persistent leadership crises at the national level forced him to leave the party. His resignation letter had been submitted earlier on November 4 at his ward in Ede North Local Government.
Adeleke thanked PDP members for the roles they played in his political journey, from his time in the Senate to his current position as governor.
