The Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed the suit challenging the National Convention of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, held in Ibadan, to January 14, 2026. The delay came as the Turaki-led faction asked Justice Joyce Abdulmalik to step aside from the case.
The faction, represented by senior lawyers, accused the judge of bias. They said “there exists a reasonable and well-founded apprehension of likelihood of bias” and argued that earlier rulings showed unfair treatment. They also claimed the judge issued ex parte orders that affected the core of the case.
Justice Abdulmalik, however, said the motion for her recusal could not be heard yet because some parties had not been served. The court then adjourned the matter and also shifted a related counter-suit to January 16.
The original suit, filed by the pro-Wike faction, seeks to stop the Turaki-led group from acting as PDP leaders and wants the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and security agencies to enforce earlier court decisions. Another suit by the Turaki faction asks the court to order police to vacate the PDP national headquarters.
