The Enugu State Government has announced a restriction of human and vehicular movement in six local government areas of Enugu North Senatorial District ahead of Saturday’s by-election.

The directive was issued this Friday by the Secretary to the State Government, Chidiebere Onyia, who stated that the restriction would take effect from midnight to 6 p.m. on Saturday to ensure the peaceful, orderly and credible conduct of the election.
The affected local government areas are Igbo-Etiti, Igbo-Eze North, Igbo-Eze South, Nsukka, Udenu and Uzo-Uwani, while officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, security personnel, accredited observers, media practitioners and other authorised election duty personnel are exempted.
The government said security agencies have been directed to enforce compliance with the restriction and urged residents to remain peaceful and carry out their civic responsibilities in line with electoral guidelines.
It also called on political parties, candidates and their supporters to remain law-abiding before, during and after the election, while expressing confidence in a peaceful and successful exercise.
