Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Adamawa, Umar Ardo, says Peter Obi may struggle to secure the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket if former VP Atiku Abubakar does not step aside.

Ardo notes that Atiku is currently the frontrunner for the party’s nomination, making Obi’s path to the ticket challenging.
Obi joined the ADC in late 2025 and controls over six million supporters, making him a key political asset for the party’s 2027 strategy.
Other major ADC figures include Rotimi Amaechi, Nasir El-Rufai, and David Mark, all part of the opposition coalition for the upcoming elections.
