The Federal Government has concluded arrangements to evacuate 270 Nigerians from South Africa following renewed xenophobic tensions in the country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this Monday, stating that an Air Peace aircraft will depart Lagos on Tuesday for Johannesburg to bring back Nigerians who have indicated their willingness to return home.
The returnees are expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos in the early hours of Wednesday.
The evacuation is part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to assist Nigerians affected by growing anti-immigrant tensions and ensure their safe return home.
