Former Minister of Science ,Technology and Innovation, Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh has extolled the wisdom of the Executive of Ikwuano Development Union, Federated for embarking on the construction of a Hall of fame in Ikwuano local Government Area.
Chief Ikoh, who is also the Chairman , Governing Council,Federal Polytechnic Owerri and chairman at the platinum jubilee celebration of the union held at Isiala Oboro, Council headquarters of Ikwuano LG called on the Executive of the union to strive to take the local govt to more enviable height.
Represented by retired Major Emmanuel Awa,a former chairman Ikwuano LG, Chief Ikoh urged sons and daughters ,in- laws, and lovers of progress to identify and support the union in her quest to construct a befitting Hall of Fame.
In his address titled, ” A new Ikwuano is here”, the President General Ikwuano Development Union Federated , Dr Anyadiegwu Charles Uzondu stated that the union has recorded major achievements in the past fifteen years under his leadership.
According to Dr Anyadiegwu,the achievements include celebration of Ikwuano at twenty- one with a land mark publication of the first Ikwuano Clans ,economic development blueprint ,the establishment of an inclusive committee with equal representation from all the four clans and the convening of the first ever Ikwuano think- tank.
The President General, who used the occasion to express gratitude to Eze Charles Onochie Ukatta for donating Seven plots of land to the union for erection of the Hall of Fame,stated that the union had organized workshop on Security ,Sensitisation programme for Youths and is advocating for creation of a second local Govt from Ikwuano LG.
Looking back a few years ago when his Executive incepted, Dr Anyadiegwu observed with delight that the fears and obstacles in the way of his Executive have given way to the
success of the 70 th anniversary of the union.
In his welcome Address, the Chairman of the Planning Committee Dr Monday Ubani( SAN) stated that the 70 th anniversary represented continuity,resilience and the collective determination of Ikwuano Development Union Federated to preserve the cherished heritage ,while deliberately shaping a prosperous future for generations yet unborn.
The Senior Advocate listed the hall mark of the programme to include establishment of Ikwuano Hall of Fame as well as the launching of the Ikwuano Hall of Fame building.
The Planning Committee chairman expressed satisfaction with the performing and visionary Governor of
Abia State, Dr Alex Otti for the myriads uncommon achievement, stressing that Ikwuano is destined to the top .
Dr Ubani thanked His Royal Highness Eze Charles Ukatta for the generous donation of Seven plots of land for the building of the historic Hall of Fame.
Highlights of the occasion included the induction of eminent Sons and daughters of Ikwuano, living or dead who have made significant contributions to the development of Ikwuano LG into the Hall of Fame and the launch of #500 m to facilitate the completion of the Hall of Fame in the next three years,swearing- in of Governing Board of Ikwuano Hall of Fame,handing over of documents for Hall of Fame land by His Royal Highness Eze Charles Ukatta to the union
The occasion attracted the presence of Traditional rulers including HRM Eze ( Dr) Eugene Ndimele, Eze udo, Awom na uzie Autonomous Community and Past President General Ikwuano Development Union Federated , Eze Ben Oriaku, Dike 1 of Umudike Autonomous Community, Eze Chijioke Imoh, HRM Eze Monday Okoro,HRM Eze Mgbeonyere Eleribe, HRM Eze Ambrose Nwagwu, Chimereze 1, of Ugwuegbu Autonomous Community ,Ariam Usaka, HRM Eze Nnabuike Agumgbe of Afa Autonomous community , HRM Eze Emeka Ezeomah of Oruigwe Autonomous Community and HRH, Eze J.C.Uwaga, Efuma 2,of Agbala ozu, umugbalu.
In their remarks, the Secretary of the planning Committee Dr Eluwa Friday Ndubuisi, appreciated the Chairman on the occasion, chief Henry Ikoh and Eze Charles Ukatta,other traditional rulers,all who donated generously towards the fund raising for building of the Hall of Fame and all that graced the occasion .
