A French appeals court has confirmed that Moroccan football star, Achraf Hakimi, will stand trial over an alleged rape case dating back to 2023.

The court gave this ruling this Friday, upholding proceedings against the Paris Saint-Germain defender and Morocco captain, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
Hakimi reacted to the decision by stating that he had been waiting for the trial since the allegations surfaced and was ready to present his side of the story.
The case stems from a complaint filed by a 24-year-old woman who alleged that the footballer raped her after they met through Instagram in January 2023.
While the plaintiff welcomed the court’s decision and expressed hope that her account would be heard, Hakimi’s legal team maintained that the ruling does not imply guilt and reiterated his innocence.
