The Ozuitem–Uzuakoli Elugwu Mba Road, a 5.5-kilometre stretch and the shortest link between Uzuakoli and Item, was last worked on in 1981 during the administration of the late former Governor of Imo State, Chief Sam Mbakwe, long before the creation of Abia State. For decades, no government paid attention to this critical road.
Today, that long-standing neglect has given way to remarkable transformation. Through the intervention of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the road has been fully reconstructed and now stands as one of the best roads in Abia State. The project has brought relief, improved connectivity, and a new, stress-free way of life to the people.
