The Okorie Lewechi family of Akaekwo Amamba Uzuakoli announces the passing of their beloved mother, Ezinne Mrs Ahuruchi Okorie (Nee Oti), aged 91. The family invites friends, associates, and well-wishers to join them in celebrating a life defined by faith, service, and exceptional community leadership.
Mother of our own Hon. Lady Blessing Uwaoma Nwokonneya, Ezinne Ahuruchi was one of Uzuakoli’s revered matriarchs. Until her transition, she lived as a devoted Christian whose commitment to God was evident through her active roles in church and community affairs. Her remarkable contributions to women’s mobilisation and grassroots development earned her the prestigious Ezinne title, along with numerous other honours.
She was also the proud mother of Uzuakoli’s first air pilot, Captain Onyebuchi Okorie who served as a lead crew for Aero Contractors Ltd for over 32 years, a distinction that earned her the fond name Nne Captain.
The Funeral Service will hold on Wednesday, 31 December 2025 at 10 a.m. at Methodist College Uzuakoli, under the auspices of Methodist Church Nigeria, Dodds Cathedral Circuit. A Service of Songs will precede it on Tuesday, 30 December 2025 at 5 p.m. at her residence in Ndi Ojimmadu, Akaekwo Autonomous Community, Amamba Uzuakoli, Bende LGA.
The family assures that her final rites will reflect dignity, gratitude, and deep appreciation for her impactful life in the church, community, and family.
