The Independent National Electoral Commission has extended the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration exercise by two weeks, moving the deadline from July 10 to July 24, 2026.

The extension was announced this Friday in Abuja by INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, following a review of the exercise and feedback from stakeholders.

INEC said the extension will give more eligible Nigerians the opportunity to register and be included in the national voters’ register ahead of future elections.

The commission also announced a new self-service online registration platform, which will begin on July 8, allowing first-time voters to complete their registration, including biometric capture, using their personal devices through the CVR portal.
