The leadership crisis in the Labour Party deepened this Friday as its ousted National Chairman, Julius Abure, vowed not to vacate the party’s national secretariat in Utako, Abuja. He spoke through his Deputy National Chairman, Ayo Olorunfemi, at a press conference in Abuja.
Abure’s faction rejected moves by the Senator Nenadi Usman-led interim leadership to take over the headquarters, despite her recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission following a Federal High Court pronouncement.
The faction also alleged plans to arrest Abure and members of the National Working Committee, claiming it had petitioned the Inspector-General of Police over the conduct of officers at the secretariat.
The development comes amid heavy security presence at the party headquarters, with both factions trading accusations over the takeover and removal of party materials from the premises.
