Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has issued a stern warning to politicians planning to manipulate the 2027 governorship election. In a viral video circulating this Monday, the governor said the people of Oyo State are now more politically aware and will resist any attempt to undermine their choice.
Makinde explained that he has already begun preparing for his transition out of office, adding that attacking him will not guarantee victory for any political actor. He said, “In a few months, I will be out of here. I have already started preparations for the transition… Oyo State people are wiser.”
He cautioned those planning election malpractice to rethink their intentions, stressing that manipulations would not be tolerated. Makinde declared, “If you think you can rig the gubernatorial elections in Oyo State in 2027, think again. ‘Were, la n fi wo were’ (We will use madness to cure madness).”
The governor reiterated that the decision on who succeeds him in 2027 belongs solely to the people, not political godfathers or individuals claiming entitlement. He maintained that only the electorate will determine the next leader of the state.
