A fire destroyed goods worth millions of naira after engulfing a storey commercial building on Somoye Osundairo Street in Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, in the early hours of Tuesday, January 20.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said the incident occurred around 1:55 a.m., prompting immediate activation of the state’s emergency response plan. Responders found intense flames and thick smoke, fueled by combustible materials in the building, which houses dealers of computers and accessories.
While no fatalities were reported, some firefighters sustained minor injuries. The entire upper floor of the building was razed, destroying all stored goods and property.
LASEMA coordinated a multi-agency response, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, LASAMBUS, and the Nigeria Police Force, successfully containing the fire and preventing it from spreading to neighbouring structures. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
