Seven members of a family, a mother and her six children, have been killed in a suspected housebreak attack at Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Kano.
The victims were identified as 35-year-old Fatima Abubakar and her children. According to the Kano State Police Command, the attack occurred around 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, when unknown assailants broke into their home and attacked them with weapons.
Police said they received a distress call shortly after the incident and immediately deployed operatives to the scene. The victims were rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where they were confirmed dead.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, has ordered a thorough investigation and directed the Criminal Investigation Department to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killings. Police spokesperson Abdullahi Kiyawa expressed condolences to the family and residents, assuring that efforts are underway to arrest those responsible.
