The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has warned Nigerians about the circulation of counterfeit Dostinex 0.5mg tablets in the country.
NAFDAC issued the alert this Monday, in a statement titled Public Alert No. 07/2026, revealing that three batches of the registered drug were found to be falsified and illegally imported.
The agency said the marketing authorisation holder, Pfizer Nigeria Limited, confirmed that although Dostinex 0.5mg is registered in Nigeria, the genuine product has not yet been imported into the country.
NAFDAC explained that the medicine is used to reduce excess prolactin in the body and warned that the counterfeit versions could pose serious health risks to patients.
The agency urged healthcare providers to check their stocks and advised anyone in possession of suspected fake products to report to the nearest NAFDAC office as investigations continue to curb the spread of unsafe medicines.
