The Federal Government has strongly rejected claims that Nigeria is on the brink of collapse, asserting that the nation is instead showing resilience and steady recovery across multiple sectors.
Speaking this Wednesday, April 8, at the 23rd Annual General Meeting of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) in Abuja, Information Minister Mohammed Idris, dismissed pessimistic projections about the country’s future as unfounded.
Idris highlighted recent security gains in Zamfara and Niger States as evidence of intensified military offensives and improved intelligence-sharing, which he claimed are successfully degrading criminal networks.
On the economic front, the minister cited Nigeria’s recent reclassification to “Frontier Market” status by global index provider FTSE Russell. He stated that this upgrade reflects improved foreign exchange liquidity and renewed investor confidence following difficult but necessary fiscal reforms.
The minister also called on the media to practice responsible journalism, urging broadcasters to avoid amplifying narratives that could incite fear or deepen national divisions as the country approaches a new election cycle.
