Nigeria, Israel move to strengthen bilateral relations

Nigeria and Israel have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in key sectors including agriculture, healthcare, technology and security.

The commitment came this Wednesday during a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, in Abuja.

Odumegwu-Ojukwu said Nigeria remained committed to constructive engagement and sustained diplomatic dialogue with Israel in order to promote mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthen ties between both countries.

Discussions during the meeting focused on Nigeria-Israel relations, regional developments in the Middle East, multilateral cooperation and opportunities for enhanced collaboration in strategic sectors.

The Israeli envoy, Michael Freeman, described relations between both countries as longstanding and cordial, while also calling for the revival of high-level official exchanges and greater cooperation in food security, medical support, innovation and technical development.
