The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed that coordinated counterterrorism operations conducted by Nigerian forces in collaboration with the United States Africa Command (US AFRICOM) have resulted in the killing of over 200 terrorists in the North-East region.

According to the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, the joint offensive also led to the neutralisation of several high-value terrorist commanders involved in insurgent activities across the theatre of operations.

He explained that the operations were intelligence-driven, combining surveillance support, information sharing, and precision strikes to dismantle terrorist strongholds and disrupt their operational capacity.

The DHQ stated that the partnership has significantly degraded insurgent networks and continues to yield strategic gains in the fight against terrorism. It added that ongoing operations are part of sustained efforts to restore stability and security to communities affected by long-standing insurgency in the North-East.
