A Nigerian activist, Kingsley Obiekezie Aneke, has died at 48 after battling a heart condition, leaving behind a self-written obituary criticizing Nigeria’s healthcare system.

Aneke, who died on December 5, 2025, blamed hospital strikes, medical brain drain, and high treatment costs in private hospitals for worsening his condition. The obituary, published on Facebook on December 23, accused the system of prioritising payments over emergency care.
His death has reignited public debate on poor governance, healthcare funding, and access to critical medical services in Nigeria.
