Northern governors and top traditional rulers convened in Kaduna on Monday for a high-level meeting aimed at addressing the region’s persistent security challenges. The gathering, hosted by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, CON, is taking place at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House.

The meeting, chaired by Gombe State Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, who heads the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), brings together governors from across the North, prominent traditional rulers led by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, as well as security experts and other key regional stakeholders.

Initially scheduled for last week, the meeting was postponed due to prior engagements involving North-West governors in Abuja.

The leaders are expected to conduct a comprehensive review of the security situation in Northern Nigeria, with discussions focusing on terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and community safety. Deliberations will also cover broader development issues affecting the region’s progress.

The outcomes of the meeting are expected to guide coordinated regional strategies and strengthen collaboration between political leaders, traditional institutions, and security agencies.
