A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (APC), Dele Momodu, has faulted Pat Utomi’s stance on Peter Obi’s possible vice-presidential bid in 2027. He said anyone who insists Obi cannot be a VP candidate is “not a democrat.”

Momodu reacted on X after Utomi threatened to withdraw support for Obi if he accepted a vice-presidential slot. Utomi made the comment after Obi’s defection to the ADC.
“Anyone insisting that Obi cannot run behind anyone is definitely not a Democrat who wishes to rescue Nigeria from one man dictatorship,” Momodu wrote.
He urged political realism over idealism and advised Obi to show party discipline, adding that “Obi should be encouraged to be a humble party man.”
