Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde says the Peoples Democratic Party is strong, united, and ready to surprise critics ahead of the 2027 general elections. He made this known at the Southwest PDP stakeholders’ meeting in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The meeting brought together party leaders and office holders from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, and Ekiti states. It also witnessed the reception of defectors from the All Progressives Congress and New Nigeria Peoples Party, strengthening the party’s presence in the region.
Makinde urged party members to remain loyal and focus on building strong grassroots structures at community, ward, and local government levels. He stressed that unity and commitment are key to the party’s future success.
He also reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP despite recent talks with President Bola Tinubu, explaining that the discussions were strictly about national governance and not party defection.
