Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi, has accused politicians of importing Fulani militants into Plateau State to target Christians, saying thousands of fighters from Bauchi and other areas have set up camps near state borders and are advancing into communities.

In a video shared on social media, Dachomo said the groups were moving into Dorowa and surrounding villages, and urged Christians to pray and prepare to defend themselves. He also linked the alleged surge to Nigeria’s recent designation as a “Country of Particular Concern” by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Security agencies previously dismissed a similar viral warning by the cleric as false and inflammatory, with military spokesmen calling the claims propaganda intended to stoke ethnic and religious tensions.
Despite denials, Dachomo said attacks followed his warning, claiming coordinated assaults on three Barkin Ladi communities that night left more than 17 people dead. Local reporting and social posts have circulated footage and accounts of the incidents.
The military and state authorities have urged calm and promised investigations; community leaders and human-rights groups continue to call for independent verification and stronger protection for civilians amid recurring farmer–herder and communal violence in the region.
