The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the discovery of two bodies believed to be part of the three Cameroonian women kidnapped in the state. The bodies were found in the Omambala River in Anambra West Local Government Area.

Police spokesman SP Ikenga Tochukwu said the bodies were recovered during an intensive search on Friday involving the Rapid Response Squad, divers, and local volunteers. He said, “During the operation, the team recovered two (2) female decomposed bodies believed to be victims of the kidnapping incident.”

The family later identified the victims as Bognou Alice and Sandra. Ikenga added, “Both bodies have been deposited in a mortuary for further examination and necessary investigative procedures.” Two suspects earlier arrested, Nonso Akpeh and Kingsley Akpeh, are still assisting with investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered a continued search for the remaining missing woman and the arrest of the third suspect, Uchenna Mmadu, who is on the run. He expressed condolences and assured the public of “the command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives, maintaining security, and delivering justice.”
