Some lawmakers reportedly seek assurances for 2027 election tickets rather than acting on genuine misconduct claims, while Wike wants a ministerial role confirmed by President Bola Tinubu. The Rivers APC has urged the Chief Judge to respect a court order halting the impeachment process.
Over 50,000 Ijaw voters have transferred their units to Rivers in support of Fubara’s re-election. The political feud stems from a longstanding power struggle between Fubara and Wike since 2023.
