It was a black Wednesday yesterday as Four NYSC members and a soldier d!ed in a road crash on the Yola–Song Highway in Adamawa State.
The accident happened near Barikin-Sajo when a military gun-truck had a head-on collision with a commercial Hummer bus traveling from Kano to Mubi.
Eyewitnesses said the crash occurred at a bend on the highway after the military vehicle tried to overtake another vehicle at high speed and veered into the path of the oncoming bus.
The impact caused a fire that engulfed the bus within minutes, trapping occupants inside. Several victims were burnt beyond recognition.
While eyewitnesses put the death toll at 10, authorities confirmed 6 fatalities.
