The Senate has suspended consideration of the proposed State Police Bill and adjourned its emergency plenary following the death of a member of the House of Representatives, Yaya Tongo.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, announced the decision this Tuesday during the emergency session of the upper chamber in Abuja.
Akpabio said the Senate would suspend legislative activities to honour the late lawmaker, who represented the Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State and died on June 12 after a brief illness.
The adjournment delays deliberations on the State Police Bill and other pending legislative matters before the Senate.
Lawmakers are expected to resume consideration of the proposed constitutional amendment when the Senate reconvenes on Wednesday.
