President Bola Tinubu has urged Team Nigeria to compete with integrity and surpass the country’s best-ever performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

The President gave the charge this Thursday at the State House in Abuja while receiving the athletes and officials before their departure for the Games, with Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila representing him.
Tinubu warned the athletes against doping, urging them to rely on talent, discipline and hard work, while reminding them that they carry the hopes and expectations of millions of Nigerians.
He also challenged Team Nigeria to surpass the country’s record haul of 35 medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, as Nigeria prepares to field 74 athletes in 10 sports at the Games from July 23 to August 2.
