A yet-to-be-identified man in his late 30s has lost his life after falling from the roof of a moving commercial train traveling from Aba to Port Harcourt, in a fatal incident that occurred at Uratta along the Enugu-Port Harcourt motorway.

Eyewitnesses reported that the victim was among several passengers perched dangerously on top of the train, a persistent and hazardous practice that continues along the Aba-Port Harcourt rail corridor despite repeated warnings about its risks.
According to accounts from those at the scene, the man lost his balance while the train was in motion, plummeted onto the railway tracks, and died instantly from the severe impact. Witnesses emphasized that survival was impossible given the sharp objects and unforgiving surface of the tracks.

“The man was sitting on top of the train with other passengers,” one eyewitness recounted. “He lost balance and fell on the tracks and died instantly due to the impact. No one stood a chance of survival after hitting the rail track filled with sharp objects. Nobody has been able to identify him.”
By the time reporters visited the scene, the victim’s body had been removed from the rail tracks along Uratta Road.
