UPDATE: Real reason why Nigeria Defence Minister, Badaru dumped Tinubu’s government

It is no longer news that Nigeria’s Minister of Defence Badaru Abubakar has resigned his appointment from Press Bola Tinubu cabinet and with immediate effect.

‎‎In a letter dated Dec. 1, sent to President Bola Tinubu, the reason Abubakar gave was based on health grounds. But before then, the President had play host to former Chief of Defence staff, Gen. Christopher Musa.

But a source revealed that it was pressure from the United States of America to relief the Defense Minister his office as the first condition for US to work out a collaboration with Nigeria to tackle insecurity in the country.

‎‎Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, announced the resignation of the Minister in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.

Tinubu has accepted the resignation and thanked Abubakar for his service to the nation.‎

‎The President is expected to communicate Badaru’s successor to the Senate later in the week.‎

‎Badaru, 63, served as governor of Jigawa from 2015 to 2023 and was appointed minister on Aug. 21, 2023.‎

‎His resignation comes as Tinubu recently declared a national security emergency, with details of its scope to be unveiled soon.
