Phyna, former Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, has revealed why she no longer encourages aspiring contestants to audition for the popular reality TV show.

Speaking during a recent conversation, the reality TV star explained that while BBNaija offers instant fame while housemates are in the house, the attention often fades quickly after they leave. Eyes Of Lagos reports that Phyna believes the excitement is largely driven by a recycled fan base that moves loyalty from one season to the next.

“The steeze housemates have on the show, they don’t have it again after leaving the house. It’s the same fan base moving from one person to another — no new people, nothing new,” she said.

Phyna added that once the cameras stop rolling, many former housemates struggle to maintain relevance, as the hype rarely translates into long-term value. She also noted that the BBNaija brand no longer carries the weight it once did, and revealing that one is a former housemate doesn’t command the same respect as before.

“The show has lost credibility compared to before. When you tell someone now that you came out of BBNaija, they won’t rate you like they did back then,” she said.

Phyna further addressed misconceptions that BBNaija guarantees instant wealth, stability, and lifelong fame, stressing that the reality is far more complex. Several ex-housemates, she said, struggle privately despite showcasing glamorous lifestyles on social media.

She also highlighted the pressure on former contestants to stay relevant, secure deals, and meet public expectations, which can be overwhelming.

Phyna’s candid remarks have reignited discussions online about the true cost of reality TV stardom, with many agreeing that exposure does not automatically translate into long-term success.
