Afrobeat star Yemi Alade has opened up about a time in her life when lying about her age caused her emotional distress.
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, she admitted spending three years claiming she was 22, only to later realise she was actually 25.
“The day I did the math and discovered my real age, I was depressed for days,” she said, describing the period as mentally draining.
Yemi added that the experience taught her a valuable lesson about honesty and self-awareness, calling it one of the strangest phases of her life.
