A self-proclaimed traditional healer, Cain Mushayi, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by a Rusape court in Zimbabwe for attempting to r@pe a woman during a ritual he claimed would cleanse her home of goblins.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said the incident occurred on October 3, 2025, when Mushayi manipulated the woman’s marital troubles to gain access to her home. During the ritual, he attempted to assault her, but she fought him off and reported the attack, leading to his arrest.
The NPAZ warned the public to be cautious of fraudsters posing as spiritual healers, describing the conviction as a significant step in curbing predatory crimes under the guise of traditional practices.
