Ndi Abia have applauded the effort to rebuild roads in Aba and Umuahia, but Abians are now asking deeper questions. The questions are about transparency, inclusiveness, and the human economy.
The Labour Party government promised a new Abia, but what we have seen, according to concerns raised by labour unions, traders, transporters and even the Deputy Speaker of the House of Reps, is a One Man-Show Government where the Governor is the Chief Executive, the Chief Accountant and the Auditor, operating from his private home instead of Government House, with no checks and balances.

Dr. Eric Opah listened. And when elected Governor on the platform of APC, he will do it differently:
1. FROM SECRECY TO TOTAL TRANSPARENCY:
Today, Abians ask: Where is the N54 Billion budgeted for 51 public schools? Why can government not publish the list of schools, contractors, locations and pictures? Why has only N2.1bn been shown as spent? Dr. Opah’s Promise: Total Open Governance. Every contract, every budget release, every school project will be published on a Public Procurement Portal. As a successful international businessman, Dr. Opah will run Abia like a world-class company – accountable to shareholders, which are the people. No more hiding budget behind propaganda.
2. FROM ONE-MAN-SHOW TO INSTITUTIONAL GOVERNANCE:
The cry is loud: Governance has been personalized to selected friends and cronies, without State Executive Council effectiveness.
Dr. Opah’s Promise: He will return Government to Government House, Umuahia. He will empower the State House of Assembly, the Local Governments, and the Civil Service. Abia State’s increased FAAC allocations will reflect in the lives of all 17 LGAs, not just in social media videos. Checks and balances will return.
3. FROM WORKER PAINS TO WORKER WELFARE:
APC and PDP have both raised alarms: civil servants earning below the N70,000 minimum wage, 10,000 civil servants retired prematurely, pensioners still crying over gratuity, and NYSC members promised N50,000 allowance that never came.
Dr. Opah’s Promise: A Welfarist Government. Full implementation of N70,000 minimum wage across board, immediate review of the 10,000 forced retirements, and a clear gratuity payment plan for our fathers and mothers who served Abia. Our teachers and health workers will be motivated again.
4. FROM INFRASTRUCTURE-ONLY TO HUMAN ECONOMY:
Government has focused only on big roads, but abandoned the cottage industries, the traders in Ariaria, the transporters, and banned Okada in Aba without any alternative, pushing thousands of youths into joblessness.
Dr. Opah’s Promise: Through the Eric Opah Foundation, he has already empowered youths and women. As Governor, he will revive cottage industries, provide soft loans for Ariaria and Ngwa Road traders, create a Transport Empowerment Scheme with tricycles and mini-buses on hire-purchase for those affected by the ban, and make Isiala Ngwa North and all rural LGAs production hubs again.
5. FROM INTIMIDATION TO INCLUSION:
Today, over 10 opposition voices have allegedly been dragged to courts in Abuja, Lagos and Abia just for asking for accountability.
Dr. Opah’s Promise: Abia will be a state where truth prevails. No Abian will be intimidated for asking questions. We will practice unity – our mantra. Whether you are LP, PDP or APC, you are Abian. All Abians will have a seat at the table.
Dr. Eric Opah is not coming to fight anyone. He is coming to FIX what is broken with ACCOUNTABILITY, COMPASSION AND BUSINESS SENSE.
This is not about Isiala Ngwa North alone. But if a man can build a Town Hall and a Primary Health Centre in Mbubo-Nsulu from his own pocket, imagine what he will do with Abia’s budget.
Vote Accountability. Vote Dr. Eric Opah. Vote APC.
