* Makes passionate appeal for Ukwa bloc

A former Abia State House of Assembly lawmaker, Paul Taribo has declared his intention to represent the people of Abia South senatorial district at the Senate on the platform of the Labour Party.
Taribo made the declaration over the weekend at Umuogor Village, Ndoki, Ukwa East local government area. The event took place at the country home of the Ukwa East local government area Chairman of Labour Party, Chief Monday Nnah Okpoko. Abia South Senatorial district comprises of six local government areas, they are:- Obingwa, Ugwunagbor, Aba North, Aba South, Ukwa East and Ukwa West.

Taribo who hails from Ikwueke, Ohambele Community, made it clear that he is qualified and competent to contest for the position and made a passionate plea, hinging it on for equity and justice, the senatorial aspirant said the people of Ukwa East should be given an opportunity to represent Abia South senatorial district at the upper chamber of the National Assembly after it has been held by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe from Obingwa for 20 years, come 2027.
He praised Senator Abaribe for effectively representing Abia South and the state very well at the senate and promised to sustain the momentum if given the opportunity.

“It’s time for us to take a shot because we’re integral part of Abia South. It’s not out of place for us to have a bite of the cake. I have found myself to be qualified to represent the people of Abia South senatorial district at the senate, ” Taribo affirmed”.
“I’m here to seek your mandate. This is not an opportunity to campaign but to inform you. I want to let you know that I have acquired the legislative experience and most of you can attest to that. Legislation is the same the world over whether at the council, state and the federal level though each house has their own internal rules.
“Abaribe is a very good legislature. He has projected Abia South very high and has placed Abia State at the national map. We have to sustain the momentum and that is why I’m here. I’m going there to complement all his efforts and sustain what he has achieved for the state”.

Other speakers at the occasion include the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, his Arts and Culture counterpart, Maltida Anyalewe and the Mayor of Ukwa East local government area, Pastor Chibunna Akara. The three speakers commended Paul Taribo for his courage to contest for the position. They assured him of their support and cooperation. However, they made it clear that it is the Governor that has the power of deciding who will fly the party’s flag.
The event attracted Labour Party faithful from all the wards in Ukwa East local government.
