A replay of the Igbo proverb: ”Arunsi kposii akposi, ee gosiya osisi eji kpuo ya” – (If a deity misbehaves, it is shown the wood from which it is carved from) – is fully playing out in the case of the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Obi Aguocha.
A source who spoke on conditions of anonymity to our reporter revealed that Aguocha was banking on the elitist Club whose membership comprises the movers and shakers in Umuahia North and Umuahia South LGAs as one of the strategies to shore up his rapidly nosediving political career. ”Like a man who suddenly recovered himself, Aguocha just realised that some of our members and officials projected and promoted him in 2023 with the ”Ohuhu Turn” agenda which worked like magic in his favour”, our source revealed
”If you remember after his very poor outing in the PDP House of Representatives primary, he was demoralised and dispirited. But the Labour Party was then slowly gathering momentum and working like one happy family, it was at that point, that we, some of his friends in the Premier Club encouraged and motivated him to try again and to make sure that his candidature took off like a wild fire, we created the “Ohuhu Turn” hype and it worked like magic in Umuahia North and South which gave him the bulk votes.
”But to our dismay, immediately after his victory and inauguration, he turned his back on all who worked for him. Even in the Premier Club, he now want to use, he was even owing us his membership dues. He just remembered Premier Club and payed N500,000 to the Club because he is seeking a second term, but we will watch as events unfolds”, the source concluded.
Our reporter gathered that Aguocha reportedly lost his cool after the Club denied endorsing stating: “The Purported Endorsement Does Not Represent the Position of the Club…. the purported endorsement, to the extent that it purports to represent the collective position of the Club or its Branch, is hereby expressly repudiated, condemned and declared unacceptable”
The lawmaker who has no score card to campaign with, reportedly began telling whoever is interested that some Premier Club Executive members who are also his close associates are envious and jealous of him
Attempts by this reporter to get the reaction of those accused met a brick wall as they declared: ‘At the appropriate time, the Ohuhu community and our people will judge between me and Aguocha who is the ingrate and who is the jealous one, I rest my case so far”
