The presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, Donald Duke, has promised to reduce the price of petrol to about N300 per litre if elected president in 2027.
Duke made the promise this Wednesday, saying petrol for domestic consumption should be priced based on production costs rather than international market prices.
He proposed dedicating part of Nigeria’s crude oil production to domestic consumption, arguing that the arrangement would shield local petrol prices from international market fluctuations.
Duke said the policy would ease economic hardship for Nigerians, particularly workers and low-income households facing rising transportation and energy costs.
