The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has warned judges who may serve on election tribunals in 2027 to remain impartial and avoid conduct that could suggest political alignment.

Kekere-Ekun gave the warning this Wednesday in Abuja during the flag-off ceremony of the 2026/2027 legal year of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria.
She said tribunal judges would handle politically sensitive disputes and would be closely scrutinised, urging them to maintain restraint, detachment and strict adherence to the law.
The CJN also cautioned lawyers against duplicating court actions, personal attacks on judges and relying on artificial intelligence without verifying legal authorities used in court proceedings.
