Protocols.
I welcome all of us to this 66th National Executive Committee NEC meeting. I thank God for keeping us safe as we struggle to save our nation.
Within the last month, our country has been on the news for the many wrong reasons as usual. This seems to have become the permanent feature of our time. The security situation has gotten worse. The APC government cluelessness has become clear to all. Cataloguing the failures of the government, the security challenges, and the effects of poverty and unemployment in the land now seem irrelevant because the government has no idea what to do. We should better concentrate on what we need to do to rescue our country and get our people back to rhythm again.
The nation has become aware of the confusion generated from the way INEC chose to deregister 74 political parties on the 5th of this month. Whatever the opinion or public perception may be of the many political parties in Nigeria, things must be done right. My biggest concern is the attitude of leaders of democratic institutions in our country. The method used is disingenuous. We have IPAC, there is no reason the Independent National Electoral Commission should not have engaged in authentic conversation with stakeholders instead. Rather, the electoral body have allowed impunity and disregard of the Judiciary seem to be their stock. This does in no way leverage their image. We encourage INEC to engage in dialogue more, than their fiat and egoistic approaches.
As you all are aware our party the African Democratic Congress ADC has been in dialogue with 63 political parties on how to best integrate efforts and resources for a more viable engagement with the people. This has been on-going for about 2years. Not minding INEC’s meddlesomeness, we are making good progress and the outcome of this effort will be made known to Nigerians soon. I commend the party Chairmen already involved in this house cleaning process. ADC will continue to support freedom of association be it political parties, Labor unions, fraternity or business. We are in court with those de-registered party because it is in our DNA to stand with colleagues and against unjust processes.
2020 Budget
In 2019, our party initiated the very first Financial Officers Quarterly Conference. This novel idea involves the Treasurers, Auditors and the Financial Secretaries of the party from the 36 states and FCT, the six zones and their National counterparts working as cohort. In conjunction with our consultants, ADC financial officers have been able to articulate for the first time in this country and possibly the continent a clear financial framework for running a grassroots and national political party.
The ADC prides itself with its strong grassroots dependency; this is well orchestrated in our budget. As a result, the party intends to set up well-furnished and people friendly offices in all the approximately 9000 wards, 774 LGAs and across the 36 states and Abuja with full compliments of staff. With about 350,000 executive officers of the party at all levels and 12,000 staff, our party will continue to showcase the best of processes and protocol. The budget covers the rents, furniture, salaries, events, publications, technology, trainings, printings and membership activities.
The National Working committee, yesterday the 19th, of February, approved the N12.5Billion Naira budget appropriation and will today send it to the Board of Trustees through the Office of the Secretary of the Board. The Board of Trustees Secretary Dr Gbolade Osinowo is present for this formality, and I hereby invite the National Secretary Alhaji Said Abdulahi and Elder Calvin Alagoa the National Treasurer to present the Budget documents to Dr Osinowo. The Board of Trustees seats later today to sign up. To God be the Glory. Ours is a straight forward process.
Effectiveness is desired in leadership, and efficiency is the outcome of good management. For effectiveness, efficiency and sustainable quality outcome, the ADC has adopted the policy of RADICAL TRANSPARENCY. This is a policy of total openness in all its dealings within and without which shapes the integral aspects of the ADC DNA. Our radical transparency principle ensures that due diligence, fidelity, loyalty, focus and commitment to public good become ingrained in our minds and service culture as party members, executives and political leaders in government offices.
In concluding, I must appeal to all of us, as party men and women, that discipline and responsibility is everything. We must continue to display our values in our works, and should endeavor to inspire Nigerians with these essential values. Every day, it is becoming clearer, and I can tell you without any equivocation that ADC is the party that is destined to save the country. Nigerians will love to know that we are ready. Sure we are.
By next month, we shall launch the ADC – DNA for a New Nigeria nation. I will not like to pre-empt these our essential characteristics and values. I will simply end with, A SUPER POWER NIGERIA is possible in 20years, and we have started its construction. I invite everyone across the length and breadth of this country and beyond to join us.
God bless Nigeria.
ADC Arise and Shine Nigeria.
A Super Power 🇳🇬 Is Possible In 20yrs
Ralphs Okey Nwosu
National Chairman ADC.
