Former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to remain impartial and ensure justice for all political parties ahead of the Osun governorship election and the 2027 general elections.

Abdulsalami made the call this Friday in Minna, Niger State, during a courtesy visit by the INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and members of the commission’s management team.
He advised the electoral body to ignore political pressure, uphold its oath of office, and conduct free, fair, and credible elections, while announcing that the National Peace Committee will hold a strategic meeting on July 29 ahead of the signing of the Osun Governorship Peace Accord on July 30.
The INEC Chairman assured Nigerians that their votes would count, reaffirmed that the Osun governorship election will hold on August 15, and urged eligible voters to participate in the Continuous Voter Registration exercise, which closes on July 26.
