The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Nonye Soludo, has urged women across Anambra State and the South-East to use this year’s August Meeting to address the growing cases of domestic abuse, especially the maltreatment of domestic workers.

Soludo made the call this Friday in a message marking the commencement of the 2026 August Meeting, encouraging women to go beyond community development projects and focus on social and moral issues affecting families.

She described the abuse, neglect and inhumane treatment of domestic workers, many of them children, as disturbing, stressing that every child deserves love, dignity, protection and a safe environment.

The Anambra First Lady also called on women leaders and community stakeholders to promote child protection, responsible caregiving and early reporting of abuse, saying homes built on empathy and respect will help raise a more peaceful and responsible society.
